As we reach the end of a very strange academic year, I know that you and your child will be feeling anxious about September and starting at secondary school.
At this point in time, as per the Government’s advice, we are preparing for the College to open as normal in September. This is, of course, subject to change and we will write to you again in August to confirm the final arrangements for welcoming our students back to College.
Teaching staff will have two training days at the start of term, to help us to prepare for the new year ahead and we are hoping to welcome all students back on Tuesday 08 September 2020.
Since our new cohort has not been able to have the usual transition programme, we will ensure that they have a thorough induction at the start of term. We are planning that all students will spend the first day with their tutor, to help them to settle and to be introduced to College routines and expectations.
Students will also complete a series of baseline tests during their first few weeks of term. These tests will help us to understand each child’s starting point and we will be better able to target our support. Your child does not need to do anything to prepare for these tests and they should not worry about them.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new cohort and we know that many of you will be looking forward to some kind of normality. It has been fantastic to see so many of our new cohort joining the Year 6 Google Classroom and starting to make new friends. If your child has not joined, then it would be appreciated if you could encourage this.
I hope that you and your family have a safe and enjoyable summer break.
With my very best wishes,
