This term Mrs Gill and Mrs Stockton began a project with FoodSequal and Plymouth fishing and Seafood association.
The aim of the club is to design, 'The Plymouth Fish Finger' with conservation and the marine environment in mind.
Students will being using fish that is usually thrown away at the harbourside (possibly dogfish) to design the new delicacy. They will be trialling different coatings, different cooking methods and different types of fish to come up with the best alternative to cod or whiting that is usually used in supermarket fish fingers.
The project is running every other week for 8 weeks, culminating in a final product celebration with parents and local community groups invited along.
There is a community taste test happening on Thursday 23rd May 1pm - 4pm at the Salvation Army Hall. People who live in the local community are invited to come along and try the new fish finger and give their feedback.
This is a very exciting project for our students to be part of, we are looking forward to seeing what they design.
