On Tuesday 19th November all Year 12 students attended the annual 'Learn2Live' roadshow at Plymouth Pavilions. This region-wide event aims to alert young people to the dangers of driving with speakers from all the emergency services along with family members who have been affected by accidents on our roads.
The event has been running since 2008 and since then, has been seen by over 100,000 teenagers in Devon and Cornwall. The roadshow targets young people as they are, statistically, one of the most at risk groups when it comes to road and traffic collisions. The event encourages young people to make small changes in their behaviours and to develop their skills and awareness to help them make sensible and safe decisions when travelling or driving on the roads.
This event was a powerful reminder of the dangers on our roads and our students told us this was a useful, informative and thought provoking event. The speakers on the day made hard hitting and emotional appeals to their audience about the long lasting impact of seemingly minor decisions and errors as both drivers and passengers.
