Sixth Form students are bracing themselves for an experience of the real world when they take part in a mock interview day on the last day of term. A team of local employers will be putting students through their paces when they conduct a series of formal interviews.
This fantastic experience will give students an idea of what to expect when it comes to the real thing. They will be assessed on their first impressions, appropriateness of dress, ability to answer questions, quality of answers and body language. Students will then be given feedback on wether they would be employed based on their performances.
Companies involved include Babcock, the Land Registry, DWP, Lignum Designs, Hellermann Tyton, Southwest Highways and Plymouth University. These are all high profile individuals within their organisations that have given their time to support our students.
To help prepare them for this one of our partnership employers visited the students to deliver a mock interview preparation session. This was aimed at giving students an insight into possible ways to answer questions, tips for positive body language and ideas on the best way to present themselves. Simon Francis, director of Lignum Designs has worked with the school for over a year and has helped students across all year groups with their career aspirations and journey. Simon will also be on the interview panel.
