OAA News

Rock Climbing club has returned to the Life Centre due to the earlier evenings and bad weather. Our students have had a good go at all the new problems in the  cave. Everyone has progressed from just having a go at everything to applying some commitment to overcoming a tricky problem. Students have spent a while on particular problems, challenging each other to get higher on them and showing resilience after falling off time and time again, but getting back up after a rest. We have  a particularly good group of year 7s this year who have all managed to learn the technique of belaying each other and keeping each other safe straight away. Special mentions go to Robyn for her overall ability and commitment and to Grace for her effort and dedication.

The Step-Up students have been out on a number of rock climbing and abseiling adventures and have shown some real bravery in getting to the very edge of the Dewerstone cliff. Many of them managed to abseil down. The visits to the Life Centre have seen some great efforts by the students, with Ben showing great potential and topping-out a number of times.

OAA Intervention News

The intervention students have been out on Dartmoor in some windy conditions, but all students have managed to complete every challenge, including an ascent of the steep ridge onto Leathertor. During these adventures they have had time to write poems to communicate their experiences. We hope you enjoy reading them!
