Year 7 make a great start to Central Venue football

Year 7 girls travelled to Plymstock School to take part in the opening games of the citywide Central Venue football tournament

They began their matches against a strong Lipson side who scored early in to make it 1-0. After going behind the girls began to calm in defence with Leah and Alissa keeping Lipson at bay for the rest of the half. In the second half the girls continued to defend well, with Shanella making some excellent saves in goal. Fedra, fed by Olivia, broke through the Lipson defence and drew the game equal with a cracking strike to make in 1-1 and that is how the game ended.

In their second game against Stoke Damerel, Emily and Freya made some excellent defensive moves, enabling Fedra to be fed the ball by Olivia to score early on with a direct shot from a tight angle. Darcy was strong in the middle again getting the ball to Fedra to put Sir John Hunt 2-0 up at half time. In the second half Stoke Damerale came back strongly and levelled the game to 2-2. With grit and determination the girls managed to get the ball again to Fedra who made an unbelievably hard strike to put the girls 3-2 ahead with her hatrick. What a result!

Well done Year 7, fabulous start, bring on next week!
