Year 7 Pastoral Leader
Hello, my name is Mrs Jordan and I am the Pastoral Leader for Year 7, which means that I’m in charge of the year group; I am the only non-teaching Pastoral Leader, giving me more time to support all my Year 7 students. I am really looking forward to getting to know you better and helping you to settle in, make new friends and have a great start at SJH. I want you to get involved with College life by joining clubs and trying new experiences. In my spare time, I really enjoy cooking, travelling and walking, especially along our coastal paths. I also enjoy spending time in my garden, especially when the sun is shining. I hope you are going to be very happy here in your new school and will take every opportunity to get involved in College life! Remember my motto: Try your best in everything and be kind to others!

Dear Year 7, Let me start by saying I am really looking forward to meeting you all. I am Mr Harling, and I will be your Assistant Pastoral Leader at Sir John Hunt. I have worked in education for 16 years with the last 4 and a half years at Sir John Hunt. I have been an Assistant Pastoral Leader for every year group apart from year 7, so I am looking forward to big things from you all. My job as Assistant Pastoral Leader is to make your transition into secondary school life as smooth as possible. Myself and the other members of the year 7 team will look forward to supporting you through this exciting time joining your new school. I will be around the school building lots so if you see me in the corridor, please do say hello. I will look forward to getting to know you all very soon.
KS3 Raising Standards Lead
Hello. I am the Raising Standards Leader for KS3 which means that I am here to help you do your best, make sure you are settling in well and that you are able to learn and make progress in all of your subjects. I’m also an English Teacher and I enjoy poetry, books and all things to do with literature. There are lots of clubs and activities to get involved with after school and I hope you will make the most of your time here. In my free time, I like to walk my dog, Scout; play with my children and can often be found in the garden with the chickens! I am looking forward to meeting you all and helping you to settle in to your new school. I know it might seem scary, especially as this year was so different, but the staff at SJH are really supportive and helpful. See you in September!
Hi Year 7, my name is Mr Salter and I am the tutor for 7 Destivelle. I know that starting in secondary school can sometimes be scary, but it is also an exciting time to try different activities and meet new people. This is my fifth time being a Year 7 tutor, so I will be able to support and encourage you to grow in confidence during your time at Sir John Hunt. I am very proud to be part of Destivelle house and I have very high expectations of my tutees, and I know that, as members of 7 Destivelle, you will show good behaviour, manners, enthusiasm and apply yourselves to all your lessons. I am also a Maths teacher, and I look forward to maybe teaching some of you during your maths lessons. Outside of school I have a lot of interests including surfing, climbing and music. I’m excited to meet you all and get to know some of your interests as you start your secondary school adventure. Be safe and i'll see you in September.

Hello Year 7, my name is Mrs Derby and I am one of the Year 7 tutors. If I am lucky enough to have you in my tutor group, then I know we will all have a great year. I know it can be scary starting a new school, but I will be there every step of the way to guide you, listen to you and help you grow as a confident student and be the best person you can be. As part of 7 Lowe I know you will show good behaviour, kindness to others and an enthusiasm for learning. I have been fortunate enough to have worked in many different roles at Sir John Hunt, but my favourite is what I do now. Not only am I a tutor but I am also a Maths teacher so hopefully I will get to teach some of you too! When I am not at work I enjoy running, going to the beach, reading and being in my garden that has lots of birds, frogs and even 3 hedgehogs! Be good and see you in September.
