The 16-19 Bursary Fund exists to help students continue with and complete their education where they would otherwise be prohibited from doing so on financial grounds.
There are three categories of bursary and the eligibility criteria are outlined below along with copies of the application forms.
Bursary payments are linked to Sixth Form Attendance using Plymouth City Council's guidance and will be linked to all timetabled lessons and supported study sessions.
Category 1:
Students aged under 19 on 31.08.25 and who fall into one (~or more) of the following categories:
- Are currently in care (as defined by social services)
- Are leaving or have recently left care
- Are in receipt of Income Support / Universal Credit in their own name
- Are disabled and in receipt of BOTH Employment Support Allowance/Universal
- Credit and Disability Living Allowance – in their own name.
Or,
- Are disabled and in receipt of BOTH Employment Support Allowance/Universal
- Credit and Personal Independence Payment – in their own name
Category 2:
Students aged under 19 on 31.08.25 and who fall into the following category:
- Qualify for Free School Meals (FSM)
Category 3:
Students aged under 19 on 31.08.25 and who fall into one of the following categories:
- In receipt of Disability Living Allowance (Evidence required – copy of DLA/Personal Independence Payment award to be attached to application).
- Total household income below £32,000 (subject to confirmation) Parental income from all sources for the year ended 5th April.
