Is your child eligible for Free School Meals?

The rising cost of living means everyone could use a bit of help. If you are unemployed or on benefits, then you may be able to claim free school meals for your child. 

This would not only help you: it would help the school too. 

Schools are given additional funding by the Government for every child who gets free school meals. We want to obtain as much as possible so that we can improve education for all Sir John Hunt students. We are aware there are children who attend Sir John Hunt who are entitled to free school meals but do not realise it. We are also aware that some parents choose not to take up the entitlement to a free school meal. The pupil premium means that even if you don't wish to access a free daily meal, applying will mean that this school will receive further funding.

How to make a claim

Please complete the online application form on the PCC website by following the link below. 

Free School Meal Vouchers - WONDE

Below is an overview of the process to be followed to enable you to access your Free School Meal vouchers which may be allocated during holiday periods.

Wonde Process

1. Click the redeem voucher button
2. When requested enter either your email address or phone number
3. Press continue
4. If you need to register you will then be requested to enter your personal details and accept the terms and conditions
5. You should then be able to select your preferred retailer
6. Once confirmed please copy the pin and select "view voucher"
7. Please note: If you selected Asda or Morrisons as your retailer, you will need to wait until we email you when the voucher is ready. All other retailers give you instant access to your voucher.

Introducing Chartwell's Catering Services

We want to make you aware that from 9th January 2023 Chartwells will be taking on the catering contract from the current provider Autograph.

Chartwells is one of the UK’s largest education sector caterers, for further details please see the introductory letter (link below).

From a Secondary school perspective, Chartwells will continue to provide a grab and go menu as well as the 3-week rolling lunch menu options (links below).  

We are looking forward to working with Chartwells and believe that your child will enjoy the various meal options on offer.

Special Diet Information

If you would like your child to follow a Chartwells medical diet menu, please complete the Chartwells Medical Diet Request Form (link below) and submit this back to your school along with supporting medical evidence as well as a passport sized photo of your child for identification purposes at mealtimes. Once the menu is ready, we will send back to you to obtain parental approval before serving your child.
