SEND
At Sir John Hunt Community College, the inclusion of all our students is of the highest importance. All children and young people are entitled to an appropriate education, one that is appropriate to their needs, promotes high standards and the fulfilment of potential. All staff use their best endeavours to make sure that a child with SEND gets the support they need.
Our College currently provides additional provision for a range of needs, including:
- Communication and interaction, for example, autistic spectrum disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, speech and language difficulties
- Cognition and learning, for example, dyslexia, dyspraxia
- Social, emotional and mental health difficulties, for example, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD),
- Sensory and/or physical needs, for example, visual impairments, hearing impairments, processing difficulties, epilepsy
- Moderate/severe and multiple learning difficulties

Bookings are now open for the 2026 PPCV SEND Conference!
The PPCV SEND Conference is an exciting opportunity for young people with SEND, their parents, carers, service providers and anyone with an interest in SEND in Plymouth to meet, question and learn from each other.
The event is on Tuesday, 30th June 2026 at the University of Plymouth, PL4 8AA. Attendees can drop into the Rolle Marquee to have an informal chat with groups and services who are there to support young people with SEND, or listen any of the presentations that will take part throughout the day in the Rolle Building.

Explore over 30 stalls in our marquee, or drop into presentations that will run in the Rolle Building throughout the day. Enjoy a warm welcome talk at 9:40 AM, dip in and out or stay all day until 3:00 pm.
The event is FREE and lunch is provided for those who register in advance.

PIAS (Plymouth Information, Advice and Support for SEND) have a team of dedicated facilitators skilled in a wide range of parenting programmes and behavioural strategies from birth to the teenage years.
