Sir John Hunt Community Sports College

Spanish

Intent

At Sir John Hunt, our Spanish curriculum has been carefully designed to inspire and engage all learners, equipping them with the linguistic skills, cultural awareness, and confidence to communicate effectively in Spanish. We aim to foster a deep understanding of the language through a structured and dynamic approach that caters to the diverse needs of our students. By exploring the rich cultural contexts in which Spanish is spoken, we seek to enhance their global perspective and encourage lifelong learning.

Our ambition is to provide every student with the opportunity to achieve their full potential, whether they are beginners or advanced learners. The curriculum is coherently sequenced to build upon prior learning following a methodology that allows for interleaving and a spiral curriculum. The curriculum is carefully constructed to develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, enabling students to confidently interact in a variety of real-world contexts. Through a range of stimulating activities, we encourage critical thinking, creativity, and a genuine curiosity for the Spanish language and the cultures it represents.

We believe that by fostering language acquisition in a supportive and challenging environment, students will be empowered to use their Spanish skills in academic, professional, and social settings, broadening their horizons and preparing them for success in an increasingly interconnected world. Students will strive to travel and experience other countries for leisure with the ability to understand and integrate.  They may aim to travel and communicate effectively for business purposes
